Frisbee Dan

Okay gang, I know this guy you're all talking about...not personally mind you, but I know his "story." Frisbee Dan, as he is better-well known in San Marcos, used to be a "client" of Tangram Rehabilitation Center. He was one of their head-injuries that spent years rehabing after some serious accident that basically changed his life. I have no idea what his profession or personality was like before the accident, but I do know he reportedly doens't recall much of it anyway. He learned to do landscaping through Tangram's Plant-care program and now runs his own landscaping business which he evidently does pretty well at. His only "constant" is that he stops work everyday no matter what to make it to Sewel Park in time to toss the frisbee around with anyone that'll play. That incompasses his entire current life schedule.

Anyway, that's what I know of it all. Heard he's a little gruff with folks, but I don't think it's an intentional meanness or anything.

Encounter W/ Riverman

Was in SM this past weekend. Had an encounter with Frisbee Dan at Sewell yesterday. First we saw him being wisked away on a golf cart by the swt rec dept. River emergency maybe? He then reappeared later and was throwing the frisbee.

About an hour later, Riverman appeared next to the basketball court, where we were. I then heard for the first time the voice: "Hey Guys. Yall playing some ball today huh? Dont overdo it" he said. The he jumped in the river. He did speak a little quick and I detected a faint impedement, which would support the Tangram story.

Nevertheless, Riverman was concerned with our well being. Props to you, Riverman!!!

Yes, some folks with head injuries like that experience a change in their personality (unknown to them). He is unintentionally gruff. He doesn't realize he comes off as rude. I say throw the guy a little slack. I know it's a little easier said than done, I tend to be a little hot-headed myself.

He's a fixture of San Marcos and really does care about people. Just keep that in mind if you happen to be around him.
