Young Professional Housing Help!

I am a 25 year old single male who is possibly moving the San Marcos area. I am completely unfamiliar with the area, in fact I'm from Michigan, and I'm looking for a place to live.

I'm either thinking an apartment/townhouse or perhaps renting a home. I'm looking in the $700-$1000 range. Obviously, I'd like to stay away from college housing. However, my work will be near Texas State campus. I'd like to live within 10-15 minutes of work.

Anybody have any suggestions? I appreciate your help!

I suggest staying away from any property manged by Blazer Property management, they keep your safety deposit although they know it's illegal. They count on you not fighting it and they are making a good amount of money doing it.

I used Prime Property, they have a lot of houses, but also Great Locations probably has more of what you are looking for.

If you're OK living ten minutes from campus you can almost be out of town. 10 minutes on IH35 can take you 15 plus miles.

I mentioned in another thread and it's a concept a lot of people don't understand about Texas.

You are going to drive. There's no way around it. We suffer from urban sprawl, but the reality is we also have a tremendous amount of land.

Thanks a ton! I'll definitely check out Prime Property.

Again, thanks for your help.
