Schools in Seattle

My co-worker is having a mental breakdown over the realization that she will not be able to afford to buy a house in Seattle. We're trying to convince her that renting is financially better, even in the long run. What are the best neighborhoods in Seattle in terms of schools, community and parks?

There's plenty of data available to check out schools, Seattle schools have a bit more of a struggle than on the Eastside, but the best are in Ballard. Small homes there still go for $500,000 mainly because of the good schools. They do have a lot of empty condos, there, some as low as $275,000. I can't really tell you about rental prices.
