Old Boiler Have Value? - Tampa, Florida

We bought a 1910 house and are renovating it. Part of the renovation requires demolishing the old boiler room which contains, you guessed it, a boiler! It's original to the house, and I'm trying to find out if it has any value or historic interest. I don't really want any $s for it, just want to try to get it hauled away without cost to me since it weighs a ton (likely TONS) and I'm pretty sure it has an asbestos layer encapsulating it (lots of pipes in the attic and crawlspace had asbestos blanket wraps which we've already had removed).

So, any ideas on where to start looking? Are there Florida historical societies or museums I could approach?

Century-old stuff is neat - shame to scrap it out... I can pick it up from you in February if you want.

Even scrap metal pays good money at a recycling center, provided it's not covered with asbestos. It is awful pretty looking though.

I'd scrap it for cash, especially if it weighs a ton. Metal prices are quite good as of late.

Wow that is really cool. I am surprised there is a boiler in Tampa since it doesn't seem to get too cold here very often.

I have a friend who just got one to heat his parent's home and uses the hot water to run a modified clothes dryer. Says it saves them a ton of electricity.

I'm sure there are others who would be willing to use it. I second CL as a way to get rid of it. Otherwise maybe these guys could help:
