Can you put spyware on a Blackberry?

My daughter has a verizon blackberry. I'm wondering if her husband or his father could find aps that would allow them to spy on her use of it. I would like to use email to communicate with her in private but am concerned that her phone might be bugged. I'm expecting that all the computers have some kind of aps to spy on their use.

Is there any way to check a phone out to see if it's clean?

Thx...

I don't have access to even talk to her in private..... she is at the inlaws house and they have control..... right now we don't see her.

So it is possible to load an app and monitor activity..... I was hoping that she could use it on the web without their knowing what she reads and sees..... then I could write to her and they would never know it.....

So there's no way to know for sure? And the only reliable way to delete it is to do a master reset?

Thx...

Call me crazy, but this sounds like a situation for the police or at least a private investigator.

Call me crazy, but it sounds like he's trying to break a restraining order.
