America's fastest highway is officially open in Texas. Do you think 85 mph is too fast for any road?

It is not unsafe at all as most of todays cars can handle that speed just fine. If people would learn to respect the "left lane for passing only" and "slower traffic keep right" signs, and if the 5-0 would enforce the rule, then that would take care of a good amount of accidents. I don't even know what 85 feels like any more as my Jeep tops out around 75.
I remember playing tag with a Firebird on the 401 in Toronto (North York) between 150 and 160 km/h, and that was in a Neon, Saturday afternoon. Well before stunt driving laws came into effect here.
Our interstates were designed for high speed and speed limits should not reflect driver ability...issuance of drivers licenses is responsible for that.

Most of the Interstates were originally designed for 90 mph
with curves no greater than 2 degrees
and highway grades no steeper than 5%......
although, as with everything, there are exceptions........
