bad ball joints, the JK's version of the common cold.

I know your joking but, oem joints aren't greasable

Although and because I assisted on wrockwraiths joints at the wrenching party I'm letting the dealer do mine. If its just the joints it will be covered by my partners warranty. Ironically I chose a small lift and tires on stock rims to avoid this sort of thing. Seems there really is some design flaws. Never had these issues on my cherokees or j10 and they got used a little too.......in fact the j10 could carry some HEAVY loads and did so for a quarter million miles on original ball joints. I'd lay blame on the discoing but rubicons have the same problem and were "designed" to disco...

anyway, its at the dealer now (cue jaws music) dumb dumb, dumb dumb

Cherokee equip

Quote:
I might go if the insurance doesn't total out my Jeep
how goes it?

also: in comparing the jks front end to my wifes 99 cherokee the latter has a skid plate angling down from the bumper like a prerunner that largely protects the tie rod, track bar & drag link, hell it protects all but the lip of the diff. Is this original equip or aftermarket? guess I'll be crawling around under some others on the street...don't shoot me I am not stripping your rig

The insurance couldn't determine fault so they're splitting it 50/50. It should be fixed next week. Luckily I have full coverage.

The skid plate package on the XJ was optional and included skids for the gas tank and transfer case as well as the front one. I found a set at the junkyard for mine.

50/50 my insurer and the other guy's. Luckily I have full coverage so my deductible is my only out of pocket expense. I can't wait to get the Jeep back on the trail.

even the rugged ridge skid which works on their bumper and stock doesn't cover the tie rod or damper.....huge hole in the aftemarket, and posting here is sure to get their attention

of course i've been known to smash a tranny pan taking a chrysler new yorker on a dirt road, placing that thing in front of the axle was an even more ridiculous design, way to go chrysler

currie's beefy tie rod and ends is all the armor you need, well and you need bigger tires than the rocks you drive near. see how i'm completely safe from those curbs!

this should be good enough justification for the wife. bigger tires and tie rod are ARMOR to protect the jeep and it's passengers.
