Good quick backpacking areas.

I'm looking for some new areas to explore. I usually go for an overnighter near Timothy Lake at a small alpine lake that is a quick hike in with some decent fishing and no facilities (cuts back on the crowds). Anyone know of something similar in the area? I've briefly looked into Gifford and near St. Helens but I was hoping for some local insight. Thanks!

I posted a thread titled "mappage" in the Oregon section. You might see something that looks worth checking out. Judging from the landslides around Portland I'd be very cautious about trails till we dry out a mite.
