Tons of history in VA. Several battles from both the Revolutionary and Civil wars, homes and land of several US President's and founding fathers, the Capital of the Confederacy, the Confederate History museum, ect.

We've also got great food. The Blueridge Parkway is amazing to drive through if you've got the time.

I just got off work and I'm too tired to think of anymore, but this should help: Virginia Is For Lovers - Vacation in Virginia - Beaches, Mountains, History and More

I hated my Williamsburg field trip in school, was stupidly boring imo. Jamestown was really fun though, you got to interact with the place a lot more.

Virginia is for LOVERS....

Smithfield VA the ham town. To be called a smithfield ham it has to be butched and smoked in the city limits of Smithfield VA.

Plenty of wine and beer makers.

NRA museum
Smithsonian Air and Space Museum.

ME

Blue ridge parkway

Skyline drive

Ferry Farm, Monticello, Mount Vernon, Montpelier, Ash Lawn-Highland, Berkeley Plantation, Sherwood Forest, Gunston Hall (George Mason's Home)

Frank Lloyd Wright pope leighey House

USMC Museum

JFOH (Joint Forces Open House) where Andrews AFB opens it's gates to all for a huge free airshow and static displays.

Appomatex Cout House Where the Civil war was ended.

Bull Run battel field.

Fredericksburg battel field.

and many many more civil war battle fields.

That is not northern va that is nothing about the south.

Like Jamestown and all that down there.

X3 on Blue Ridge Parkway, loads of historical sites to visit, and Smith Mtn. Lake, and bunches of wineries if you like that too.

Now, a question for you, you have a Jeep in your avatar, are you bringing it? There are some good trails around here, from mild double track to very challenging. I would be happy to recommend local trails, places to stay/camp, and visit. You could combine quite a few things just off the Blue Ridge Parkway for a great time that would fill up a few days!

I've lived here for 24 years, and still enjoy the view!

Be well,
Richard

The history here is pretty awesome.

Jamestown

Williamsburg

Appomattox

Virginia was the epi-center of the Revolutionary and Civil wars.

Home state of several Presidents...8 if I remember my history.

Nice beaches in the Tidewater area.

Beautiful natural sites..BlueRidge mountains, Skyline Drive, Luray Caverns, Natural Bridge, etc.

And the #1 reason...because it isn't California, and we actually have a bit of freedom left here!
