Beverly Dunes June 2011 ORV Camp-out Report & Pics

Beverly Dunes ORV Camp-out
By Clay Graham

On Saturday June 4th, 2011 we met up at the Beverly Dunes ORV Area for the Eastern Washington Adventures ORV Camp-out. All of us ran quads other than Guido. He wheeled his TJ.

The Columbia River was over flowing and backing up Crab Creek causing the Beverly Dunes campground to be under water. We contacted the DNR to make sure it was ok to camp in the parking lot area. Since the campground was underwater they gave the go ahead. We set up camp and headed out to play.

Later in the day a lady on a Banshee came off a dune wrong and crashed. It look as the foot peg opened up her leg. She hurt her shoulder in the crash too. I came up to the crash from the top of the dune right after it happen. I stopped two quads that were headed off the dune so they did not run her over. Another quad rider was on the bottom of the dune and ran over to help the lady. Guido got his first aid kit out. Jeepscum used my phone to call 911. Justin rode back to show 911 the way out to the crash. A near by Game Warden showed up real fast and followed Justin to the seen. The Game Warden radioed in and said the medics would be there in about 15 minutes so he drove up to the parking area to get them. The Game Warden picked up a Deputy Sheriff at the parking area as he was getting the medics. The medics followed the Game Warden out to the seen. As the medic worked on the lady, the Deputy Sheriff took down info and took pictures of the crash area. The medics loaded the lady up in a SUV to get her to the ambulance that waited in the gravel parking area.

The next morning as we were cooking breakfast the Deputy Sheriff showed back up looking for the group the lady was with. The Deputy Sheriff told us he still had not heard back on how the lady was doing.

After breakfast we did some more riding. It was hot out so we played in the water that was left in the dunes from what we guess came from a bigger flood than the one that was there that weekend.

This was so far the hottest weekend in 2011 and we had a blast thanks to all who came. Here are some pictures of the weekend:
