Makin' the move?

move to Bellevue if you like the view of a forested city skyline. Beautiful town, great place to raise kids.

I'm not sure if you're asking or telling, but I actually just moved to Bellevue from Seattle. More house for less money, better commute to work and a more centralized shopping area closer to where I now live compared to where I lived in Seattle. Also I have 2 small children and now I live within walking distance to the school they will attend and it's a great school.

Bellevue is a nice town. I prefer being close to Oregon down in Vancouver though. 10 minute drive for no sales tax.

Do you guys commute to downtown? What are the options for public transport and how long does it take?

I live east of Bellevue, about 23 miles from where I work on the waterfront
in Seattle. I have been in a van pool, and am now in a carpool. We meet at a park & ride in Bellevue. Without the waiting for others and getting back on the freeway it's about 30 minutes drive. Because our bus service up here is awful, that would take nearly 2 hours. If going from Bellevue to Seattle (or the other way around) the bus service is actually pretty decent, and 20-30 minutes.

While the economy is bad all over, including Bellevue, businesses there should start doing better soon. The mayor of Seattle is driving out shoppers, has proposed $4/hour at city parking meters, raising the parking lot/garage tax to 12%, and eliminating free parking on Sundays. Bellevue has several good malls and lots of free parking.
