Also I have 2 small children and now I live within walking distance to the school they will attend and it's a great school.
o_O maybe for owning a home but apts are way more expensive

Rent prices usually follow the same trend as mortgages.
What is the average rent out there for a house?
I would say $850 is the going rate down here, but the average income is lower too.

I wouldn't know what the going rate for an apartment is. I do know that we would never have gotten the size house with a 2 car garage in the kind of neighborhood that we know live in in Seattle. Don't get me wrong, I liked living in Seattle and if it wasn't for the commute I would have loved to move to Magnolia, but my wife works in Bellevue so it made more sense to move here.
