In Parkersburg, I'd definitely try the Paradise Grill. They have the best ribs I've ever had. Also, if you like deli food, try Third Street Deli. Amazing sandwiches and desserts. The best pizza is at either the Pizza Place or Rubi's. Rubi's has a lot of variety to their fare and it's all delicious. The best Mexican place is Gran Ranchero. Oh, and for great Indian fare hit Star of India. If you like good beer, don't miss the North End Tavern. They have good, basic grill food (burgers, fries, etc.) and their beer is outstanding.
When I'm in Clarksburg, I get my sushi on at Shogun--top notch.
Haven't been for awhile, but if you're ever near Thomas, try the Purple Fiddle. They had great food and lots of great live music.
Has anyone here dined at Tamarack? It looks interesting, but I've never been there.
I have been to Tamarak, but had forgotten it had "FOOD".....only thought it was a montage of West Virginia Crafts........but, here's food ......thanks for mentioning it......I go by there twice a year on my way from Richmond to Charleston.......the statement that it is managed by "THE GREENBRIER RESORT" is a tipoff that there has to be some great food here.....
Here's a "copied and pasted" paragraph from the "TAMARAK" website.....
History of Tamarack
TAMARACK: The Best of West Virginia is the nation?s first showcase of handcrafts, fine art and regional cuisine. It comprises a warmly decorated retail store, working studios for resident artisans, a fine art gallery, a theater, and A Taste of West Virginia food court, managed by The Greenbrier Resort. Additional meeting space is available in the Tamarack Conference Center.
Very good, but fayateville does have some better resteraunts in town!
Name a few. The wife and I drive up there a couple times a year. I love to stop at different places when out of town. I never could understand people who eat the same ole same ole when traveling.
If you are in Elkins, you should try

Cheat River Inn- Similar to The Lodge but not as pricey, Great sushi when the do sushi nights
Beander's-Must go while in Elkins- Great menu and food, awesome downtown Restaurant/Bar

And, another and, if you're a "big spender" you can always dine at the "World Famous" "THE GREENBRIER" in White Sulphur Springs. They have a "Chef's" school there along with a new "Gambling Casino", probably that outclasses "Las Vegas" and for use by Guests only (at this time).
Be sure to check "The Interactive Map" to view the expanse of "THE GREENBRIER HOTEL & RESORT"
So, West Virginia, has it all......scenery, mountains, valleys, rivers, skiing, fishing, hunting, golf, white water rafting and world class dining and the "Hatfield/McCoy" ATV trail, just to mention a few.
