"THE GREENBRIER" Resort Hotel in White Sulphur Springs, WV have three golf courses and they held the "Greenbrier Classic" golf tournament there this year (2010) and are planning another for 2011. These photos, I took, as it lies along US-60 and can be easily seen, are of their newest golf course.......and, if you can imagine an airport runway, you can see how it was developed. They removed the concrete from the runway and constructed the golf course from "the ground up", so-to-speak! Pull up the link for "THE GREENBRIER" and be sure to watch the videos (under "Media"), there are five of them, and No. 4 of 5 describes an "off-road" driving school that is also available there.
You can also visit the Cheat River and do some serious freshwater fishing! trout are stocked weekly starting at the end of january and ending in March, also this is one heck of a smallmouth bass fishery. Bass up to 20" have been caught, my personal best is 19",4.3lbs!!! Smallmouth fishing is best in the summer/beginning of fall, with minnows and nightcrawlers(any live bait) you cant go wrong. Lodging is available at Cheat River Inn, or there is Stuart's Park(state funded campground). There is also a bi-weekly Fall stocking program for trout. There is also a fish Hatchery along the river( just off Route 33) that lets you tour the facility. this i a great get-a-way for the family~!!

For visitors, I would recommend seeing the New River Gorge Bridge. Incredible engineering feat. Just watch your speed as you're driving down route 19 - Biggest speed trap in the US.
Blackwater Falls is a wonderful state park with lots of hiking and views. If you're a golfer, then check out Canaan Valley (about 10 miles from Blackwater).
If you are on 'outdoor' person, this is the place. White water rafting, ziplines, fishing, canoeing, rock climbing, mountain biking, skiing, golfing, hunting, camping ATV/Jeep trails....not to mention quiet time in vacation cabins and resorts (check out Stonewall Jackson and The Greenbrier).
