I just answered your same question in the Montana forum. When I planned my trip across the country and I asked myself what places do I HAVE to see, Yellowstone was #1. My whole route from Charleston SC was planned on going to Yellowstone. As a result I got to see Devils Tower and the Grand Tetons. Any good cross country trip would go through Wyoming. Too much to see. I cant wait to get back.

You can make the tourist loop but I would try at least a few days in small towns and state parks. That is the real wyoming. That and the wind.

Go through Jackson around May or early June, then head up to Yellowstone, then Cody. Plan to stay at least 2 weeks for those 3 places. Also, there is a ton of trails for your Jeep
