Colorado River

Been thinking about towing the boat down to Yuma and exploring the river. The boat is a 16' Lowe flatbottom with a 50 HP tiller Merc. Is this enough boat for that area? How hard is it to run the river. I've got power trim and am somewhat concerned about navigating the river without tearing the motor up.

I believe with the varied depth of the river, you would have more fun and less chance of ripping out your outdrive with a jet powered boat.
