Thronateeska Heritage Center brings visitors inspirational works of science that stimulate exploration and discovery as well as appreciation for South Georgia's history through engaging and interactive learning experiences and displays in this science center and museum.

Incorporated in 1974, Thronateeska Heritage Center is a non-profit organization established for the preservation of the history of Albany and Southwest Georgia. It also seeks for the promotion of science education among the people in the area.

Within the campus of Thronateeska, one will see the history museum, the science museum as well as the rail car display. It also boasts of a 40' full dome HD planetarium system which is said to be the first of its kind in the entire world. The facilities of the Museum occupy historic structures as well as new buildings designed to echo the area?s railroad heritage.

The Thronateeska Heritage Center also houses the archives and collections department, which is in charge of the catalogues, stores, and overseeing for all of Thronateeska?s collections open to the public for the purpose of research.
