The Merrie Monarch Festival is recognized to be the premier forum event in the world that is perfect to be attended by people of all ages. It encourages each of its participants to display their skills on the art of the traditional and modern hula combined. The festival lasts for a week and starts off with a very interesting music festival called Ho?olaulea.

The music continues on throughout the entire week with the rest of the other festivities featured during the event which also includes a hula competition. It ends with a grand and elegant parade through the Hilo area which is called as the Merrie Monarch Royal Parade. It is just perfect to be attended by all music and art lovers from all over the world.
