1989 was the first year that the Ketchum Sun Valley Historical Society Heritage & Ski Museum had opened its doors to the public. It showcases artifacts that explore the history and culture of the city of Ketchum.
The society had been able to lease three buildings located at Forest Service Park in 1993 and renovations of two of those buildings had been completed two years later. In 2000, the Sawtooth Science Institute had collaborated with the museum to expand its programs. Idaho State University?s also helped in expanding the museum?s collection related to the state?s natural and regional history.
At present, two of the buildings of the museum offer a gift shop and exhibits on display while the middle building is used for storing archives and workplace.
Nearby accommodations include the Elkhorn Resort Sun Valley in Elkhorn Village Sun Valley and Sun Valley Lodge or SunValley Lodge.
