If Paris has Champs-Elys?es, Chicago has The Magnificent Mile. It?s a grand wide boulevard with exclusive shops, museums, restaurants and glamorous hotels. That?s why the areas around it are resided by some of Chicago's wealthiest. The Magnificent Mile is also often called as a shopper's paradise. All their favorite shops can be found here, from Disney, Apple and Nike town to Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue. Sidewalks are filled with colorful flowerbeds and are always occupied by fashionable people.
Magnificent Mile was the old North Michigan Avenue. In 1947, when this avenue became Chicago's most fashionable street, real estate developer Arthur Rubloff, who had ambitious plans for the avenue, proclaimed North Michigan Avenue as the 'Magnificent Mile'. From then on, the avenue became a go-to place of shopaholics worldwide, and has become one of the most famous landmarks in Chicago.
