Established in 1987 to preserve the local history of Ackley, the Ackley Heritage Center stands on a portion of the reconstructed Illinois Central Railroad Depot found on the north end of State Street. The center offers visitors its interesting and unique artifacts that exhibits past lifestyles, a wide collection of photographs documenting Ackley life and progression, welcoming and hospitable volunteers to guide you with most informative research means.

Since the 1860?s the Ackley Heritage Center has continually preserved hundreds of vintage photographs, but the museum is actually courteous enough to share these artifacts by printing a copy of the photographs for a small fee and since the* Ackley Heritage Center is a non-profit organization all the proceeds fund will be used for future endeavors.

Preserving and recording the antiquity and relics of this great migration is the mission and purpose of the Ackley Heritage Center. All of these have not been made possible through the efforts of the hard working community volunteers and generous donations. The Ackley Heritage Center also offers visitors different items in their store.
