The General Butler State Resort Park is a state resort park and recreation area in Carrollton, Kentucky. It is well known for being the first state park in northern Kentucky.
Established in 1931, the General Butler State Resort Park honors a prominent military family. It is named after General William Orlando Butler, who used to live at the very site. Butler is noted for his service during the War of 1812 to the Mexican War. The family, however, always had a military heritage, with its members serving from the Colonial times to the Civil War era.
The Butler-Turpin House is a part of the General Butler State Resort Park and serves as a historic house museum. Aside from touring the house, folks can also enjoy fishing, camping, biking, birding, canoeing, hiking, and golfing at the park.
