The Kentucky Railway Museum is a non-profit railway museum located in New Haven, Kentucky. The museum was established to educate the public about the heritage and the history of the Kentucky railroads together with the people responsible for building these trains and railroads.

The museum was established in 1954 in Louisville, Kentucky and has been considered as one of the oldest railroad stations and railroad museums within the United States. The current site of the Kentucky Railway Museum was built in between 1856 and 1857 by the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. This railway was an important railway system for the Union which also made itself a regular target by the Confederate forces during the American Civil war.

There are different attractions in the Kentucky Railway Museum including several steam locomotives such as the Louisville and Nashville Railroad # 152, a 4-6-2 Pacific style which was also the last operational steam locomotive from the L&N Rail system.

Visitors can also check the Monon Route?s Diesel Engine No. 32. The steam engine was a staple in during the early days of the Kentucky Railway Museum. The diesel engine was purchased in 1948 by Monon which was later painted the colors black and gold which were also the same colors of Purdue University. The diesel engine was later bought by the Louisville and Nashville Railroad in August, 1971 and was added to the museum?s display a year later.

The museum also showcases a car from the so-called four-star hotel on rails known as the Mt. Broderick Pullman Car complete with pull out beds and polished brass restroom fixtures. It was sold to the museum by the Pullman Company in 1958. Another famous car on display is ?The Cardinal,? formally known and registered in the National Register is the Frankfort and Cincinnati Model 55 Rail Car.

Other exhibits include different dioramas and model trains covered in glass which spans a total of 3,000 square feet. Visitors can also take an excursion trip from the museum all the way to Boston and back again. Excursions will follow a scenic route and will show the rich history of this part of the American railway system.
