The Bayou Pierre Alligator Farm is an alligator conservation park and tourist attraction located in Natchitoches, Louisiana. This 5-acre park follows the standard Cajun ambience and is made even better with Cajun music, ?joie de vivre? and delicious Cajun cuisine.
Visitors would be able to go and see hundreds of different alligators taken care of inside the park. These visitors can go and feed these alligators themselves or even take pictures together with these cold blooded reptiles. Guests can view these gators in their natural habitat through the safety of protected walkways and platforms. Alligators range from young 4-foot alligators all the way to the big 1000 pound alligators. The park?s ?Alligator Island? is touted as a thrilling experience which puts guests in a situation where they will be surrounded safely by dozens of alligators. While in the island, guests can also watch a movie or a documentary and cool down with drinks.
The park also features the ?Reptile Habitat? which hosts other reptiles such as plated lizards, skinks, water dragons, savannah monitors, caiman crocodiles, iguanas and much more. The park also features unique alligators such as ?Stumpy? the alligator with no tail and the 50 year old alligator snapping turtle ?Myrtle.?
Tourists will then be led to a tiny town complete with a store, barber shop and sheriff?s office. The small town will also feature a window with different birds and animals including pygmy goats and peacocks. Guests can also be treated to another show inside ?Castaway Island,? a feeding show where trained professionals feed the alligators from a Cajun house boat.
Other exhibits in the Bayou Pierre Alligator Farm include Edgar the albino alligator as well as a suspension bridge leading to ?The Jungle.? The Jungle features a wide variety of reptiles including the 14? albino python Bernadine. Next on the tour is Rocky Raccoon Resort which is a mini enclosure filled with raccoons followed by Turtle Town and many others.
