The St. Bernard State Park is a state park and recreation area in Braithwaite, Louisiana. It is primarily marketed to families who are looking for a great place to enjoy a vacation or getaway.
Dubbed as a natural haven, the St. Bernard State Park is composed of 358 acres of area between the towns of Caernarvon and Poydras. It is just a couple of miles out of New Orleans, but is not necessarily one of the top visited state parks in Louisiana.
Established in 1971, the St. Bernard State Park was created through the donation of a local family. For more than 3 decades, it served as the only state park in St. Bernard Parish. Visitors of the park can enjoy picnicking, fishing, swimming, camping, and wildlife viewing.
