The Fort Point State Park is a state park and recreation area in Stockton Springs, Maine. It is also quite historic, being named for the site where Fort Pownall was established in 1759 and for containing the original burial site of General Samuel Waldo.
Famous for its recreational opportunities, the Fort Point State Park is perfect for picnicking and hiking at most part. There are several picnic sites with waterfront view and numerous hiking trails that explore the area?s diverse natural habitats and terrain. Biking is also commonly enjoyed at the park, with its seven-mile trail that goes around Cape Jellison. Anglers and fishermen can also have a great time at the site with a fishing pier that is usually devoid of crowds.
