The Cole Land Transportation Museum in Bangor, Maine had been established to provide present and future generations an opportunity to learn about the different equipment used for the state?s land transportation system.
Another objective of the museum is to educate the public about the US military war heroes throughout history. Various memorials can be found at the museum?s property, including the State of Maine?s Monument to WWII, which is an exact bronze casting of the WWII Willy?s Jeep found inside the museum.
There?s also the Military Order of the Purple Heart Memorial, which had been dedicated by none other than Gov. John Baldacci in 2003. The Vietnam Memorial, on the other hand, is a three-person bronze statue that had been sculpted by local Maine artists Glen and Diane Hines in 2004.
