Alden B. Dow is a well known architect of the 20th century. He has worked with Frank Lloyd Wright, and critically acclaimed for his originality.
The Alden B. Dow House and Studio is a US National Historic Landmark that was once Dow?s home. It was constructed during the late 1930s. It is a very unique building as it used the patented system that is known as ?Unit Blocks?. These items were basically one foot recycled cinders that were cast using products from the Dow Chemical Company. The architect used these things for the terraces and walls. They also functioned as ornamental elements like the stepping stones in the pond.
The Alden Dow House and Studio is now open for public tours.
