The Cascades is a giant waterfall with six fountains where water keeps on tumbling in changing patterns. A small Museum is devoted to the history of the fountain.

The Cascades resulted from the dream of William Sparks to have something in Jackson that would leave a lasting impression on its visitors. Sparks acquired a property intending to turn it into a skating pond. Eventually, his plans turned into something bigger and it led to the development of the 400-acre land into a golf course, canal, lagoon, landscaped grounds, picnic spots, a clubhouse, and the Cascades. In the following years, the Cascades was visited by tourists from all over the world. The foundation park was then given to Jackson County after the death of Sparks in 1943.

The site fell into disrepair and was about to be closed. After getting massive community support, it was restored to its former glory and it re-opened. Today, it boasts of a new computer system that allows it to showcase a lights and fountain show that syncs with music to continue bringing joy to its visitors.
