The Fisher Theatre is a 2089-seater live theatre that is located inside the Fisher Building in Detroit Michigan. It was originally designed to have Mayan Revival style of architecture when it was first constructed during the late 1920s, but when it was renovated and its seats were adjusted from 3500 to 2089, it was also redecorated with a simplistic mid-century design that some experts call ?dated?.
Initially, the Fisher Theatre was designed to host live performances. But just like about any other theatre in the country, it suffered from some financial losses, mostly due to the lack of an audience, so it was used as a movie theatre for a time, during the Depression era until 1961.
Today, the Fisher Theatre is home to traveling Broadway productions under the Nederlander Organization.
