The Model T Automotive Heritage Complex is the old Ford Piquette Plant, the second manufacturing site of the Ford Motor Company. The building was constructed in 1904 and played a huge role in making Henry Ford?s dreams of making affordable cars for the general public.
In this very plant, the Model T was developed. This car paved the way for the automobile industry to bloom, and was even voted as the Car of the Century. In 1908, production of the Model T was started in the Piquette Plant.
The name of the Model T Automotive Heritage Complex came from this historic event and car model. The site may have only been used for a short while by the Ford company, as they moved to Highland Park in 1910, but this site is still worth its National Historic Landmark designation in 2003. It is now operated as a museum.
