The Lauren Rogers Museum of Art was opened as a memorial to Lauren Eastman Rogers in 1923. Lauren was the only son and grandson of one of the founding families in the town.

At 23, Lauren died from the complications due to appendicitis. The Eastman Memorial Foundation was established by his father, Wallace Brown Rogers, and grandfather, Lauren Chase Eastman, ?to promote the public welfare by founding, endowing and having maintained a public library, museum, art gallery, and educational institution, within the state of Mississippi.?

Designed by Rathbone deBuys, the Museum is a Georgian Revival structure that makes use of double-hung sash windows, local bricks, and Indiana limestone.

Its collections consist of European, American, Native American, Japanese and British pieces and art works. It has its own publications, library and collections database which provide visitors extensive resources and information.
