The Mississippi John Hurt Museum is a music museum in Carrollton, Mississippi. It is focused on the life and works of John Hurt, also known as Mississippi John Hurt, a well known bluesman.

John Hurt is a native of Avalon, Mississippi. He first recorded an album in 1928 known as the ?Avalon Blues?. However, commercial sales were underwhelming, so he soon drifted out of the recording scene and worked as a farmer instead. Around the 1950s and early 1960s, though, the album was found again and stirred interest in the blues scene. He was convinced out of retirement and went back to the music scene. His resurfacing aided in the revival of the American folk music. It also led to his becoming one of the most influential bluesmen in the country.
