The Hall of Waters used to be the most accomplished health resort and water bar in the United States. In 1935, the government bought the rights to 10 springs for $1 million to make it into the best water bar with selections of bottled waters with calcium bicarbonate, sodium bicarbonate (soda water), sulfo-saline and iron manganese. These bottled waters are palatable and are favored by locals during those times.

Excelsior Springs is abundant of natural water and the idea behind the Hall of Waters was to built a complex with the concept of water as an alternative medicine. When the Hall of Waters was first built, it had bath houses, a spa, therapy pools, and a water bar. The concept became very outdated that the hall was shut down.

Nowadays, the Hall of Waters is only open for its tourism. It also houses many governmental administrative offices. The hall has Victorian, Neo-Classical and Art Deco Style influences and the surrounding buildings of the hall have similar and cohesive style.
