Put up as a replacement to the original structure known as the Pike?s Peak Stable in 1888, the Pony Express Stable is a 1 ? story brick building that is a reminder of Pony Express? service to the United States. In 1950, the building was restored by the Goetz Foundation and was transformed into the Pony Express Museum that continues to operate and tell the story of the legendary company that helped in shaping the country today.
The Pony Express may have been an entrepreneurial failure, but it has clearly made its mark in history. This is why almost every item related to it is prized today. The Pony Express Stable was neglected for a time, but it was salvaged and restored to its original 1888 glory.
Today, the Pony Express Museum continuously preserves and tells the greatness of the Pony Express Company.
