The North Platte Area Children?s Museum is a hands-on learning center for both children and parents to enjoy the wonder of science, technology, culture and the arts. Boasting a one-of-a-kind interactive atmosphere, the museum is a great venue for children to immerse and learn in a fun way with their over 20 exhibits on hand. Committed to providing the family a center of learning and discovery, the museum was created as a private institution in 1999, with no funding from city or state.
Some of the exhibits to enjoy at the North Platte Area Children's Museum are the Experience Agriculture wherein kids and parents can learn the value of agriculture and how it affects our lives; the Commerce Room affords kids a chance to experience the world of business like withdrawing money at the bank or playing cashier in a real mini-grocery store; the Media Center allows children to grasp the important role media plays in the society as well as lets them play anchor or weather person on KIDS-TV or even create their own newspaper or book; while the Kid's Corral is exclusive to kids below 18 months and is a good place for them to develop their large and small motor skills.
New exhibits opened are the Market World where they can harvest "crops" in the museum's garden and sell them to the Farmer's Market. Aside from this, they can ride horses, play dress-up farmer and go on picnics. The Small World, also a new exhibit, is targeted for toddlers and preschoolers and allows them to play house in an enclosed area fit for children their age.
Aside from the myriad exhibits, the museum also hosts a number of learning and interactive events such as puppet shows and theater. The museum accepts walk-in visits or school field trips.
Whether it's creating crafts, build or construct, or even just to sing and dance, the North Platte Area Children's Museum is a one-stop-shop for children's development and fun.
