The River Country Nature Center features bird related activities brought to the visitors by the River Country Bird Club. Members of the Nature Center can visit the site and participate in its activities including field trips, informational programs about birds, lessons on bird organizations, resource and reference locations for bird information, experiences with optical equipment, acquaintance with other bird enthusiasts, participation in Citizen Science related to birds, and sharing of information about birding locations.

The Nature Center was brought about by the mounted wildlife collection of Joe Vargas, who had been collecting it since the early 1930?s. In order to provide a suitable home for his collection, several dedicated individuals strived to purchase the building. The collection was transferred to its current home in 2005. It is housed in the building that also features an interactive learning center, an assembly area, a library, and its own gift shop and story-telling area for children.

The Center also offers field guides during field trips as well as optical equipment for visitors who need binoculars.
