In a wooded area in North Salem, New Hampshire stands America?s Stonehenge. Unlike the other Stonehenge inspired attractions in the country, this one could be the nearest thing the USA has, mostly due to the mysterious origin of the structures, even though they don?t resemble the original wonder very closely.
The creation of America?s Stonehenge is still a matter of debate among many. Various theories are available, including what the ?discoverer?, William Goodwin, has to say. He believed that the site was a proof that Irish monks lived in the area even before Columbus came along.
Formerly known as the Mystery Hill, visitors can also take a look at the ?oracle chamber? and the ?sacrificial stone? in the list of other features available on site.
