Maritime history and warship enthusiasts will definitely enjoy a trip to the Intrepid Sea-Air Space Museum which features a roster of warships collection Located at the West Side of Manhattan, the museum features the USS Intrepid ? an aircraft carrier that played a vital role in the US?s defense strategy during World War II. It also plays home to other water and air war crafts including USS Growler (a submarine), Lockheed A-12 (supersonic reconnaissance plane) and Concorde SST. Aside from these museum pieces, visitors would also see other warships that docks in Intrepid Sea-Air Space Museum?s terminals. Several events are also held here including the yearly Fleet Week celebration.
Numerous exhibits from that feature different crafts from US?s different agencies such as the US Army, the US Navy, the US Coast Guard and even NASA are mounted in the Intrepid Sea-Air Space Museum. There is also an exploreum which is an interactive room created to make children experience what it?s like to be in an aircraft.
The museum closed in 2006 for renovation and was re-opened in 2008.
