The Afro-American Cultural Center is a well known cultural center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Housed in the former Little Rock AME Zion Church, the site features various programs and presentations in different concentrations in the arts.
The Afro-American Cultural Center also has a 250 to 300-seater ampitheatre where performances are commonly held. This goes hand in hand with the center?s aim of promoting and preserving the culture of the African-American population. Musical and theatrical performances usually take place on the site, sometimes even big names like the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company have shows here.
The Afro-American Cultural Center also celebrates the great strides that the community has achieved during the mid-1900s. There?s a room furnished with 1940s period furniture, representing the lives and times of the Civil Rights Movement.
