The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art is an art museum in Charlotte, North Carolina. It is noted for having one of the South?s ?most important 20th century European collections?.
Usually described as the city?s ?most inspired and inspiring spaces?, the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art is actually a manifestation of art inside and out. Its building, designed by the Swiss architect Mario Botta, the same expert who designed the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Inside, it is filled with works of art that are once a part of the Bechtler family collection.
The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art is named after the Bechtler family who has provided the initial collection of the museum. The site however, is a partnership between the City of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, and the Wachovia/Wells Fargo.
