The Core Sound Waterfowl Museum documents the stories of the communities of Down East, including Cedar Island, North River, and the communities of Portsmouth, Diamond City, Salter Path, and Promise Land who share the stories with the community. The Museum features programs, exhibitions, and publication in order to impart these events and significant parts of history to its visitors.

The Museum?s collection include photographs, oral histories, family heirlooms, and other community artifacts that help illustrate the story of the inhabitants of these areas.

Visitors to the Museum will be able to view the magnificent scenery of Core Sound from the Lookout Tower. This landscape includes Shell Point, Shackleford, Core Banks, the Cape Lookout Lighthouse and other communities in the Down East.

One of the Museum?s latest additions is the 40-foot fishing vessel Jean & Dale. This vessel depicts the story of Harkers Island since its fine craftsmanship and artistry, made by Brady Lewis, represents the life in Harkers Island during the mid-19th century.

The other attractions found within the Museum are the Willow Pond, David?s Room, its exhibits, and many more.
