The Gourd Museum is a special museum in Angier, North Carolina. It features displays collections of the North Carolina Gourd Society.
Founded by Marvin and Mary Johnson on their own homestead in the Kennebeck Community, the Gourd Museum is all about gourds. It features a wide array of different gourds. They come in various shapes, sizes and even designs, as some are already painted over. The museum started in 1965 because the Johnson couple just had too many gourds lying around the house. They used this small building at the back of their house and the museum was born.
The Gourd Museum, however, is now located in the municipal building. it was moved in 2006 after the family property was sold off and turned into a development project.
