The Governor Charles B. Aycock Birthplace State Historic Site is a historic site in Fremont, North Carolina. It is dedicated to honoring the life and achievements of Governor Charles B. Aycock.
Governor Charles Brantley Aycock was North Carolina?s governor from 1901 to 1905. He focused his term on improving the state?s public school systems. During his term, he made sure that every day of his term, one school would be built. He also traveled the country largely in promotion of education after his time in office.
The Governor B, Aycock Birthplace State Historic Site looks back and honors the great strides and achievements of Gov. Aycock. It features his boyhood home in Wayne County as well as a restored one-room schoolhouse that was built during his time in office.
