The J. C. Raulston Arboretum is a garden and arboretum in Raleigh, North Carolina, under the care and management and inside the campus of the North Carolina State University. It was established in 1976 by the horticulturist, Dr. J. C. Raulston, who was also the man whom the site was named after.
The J. C. Raulston Arboretum has more than five thousand plants in its collection. They vary in species and kind, and there are also a series of special collections. They have 13 major gardens including model, winter, perennial, Japanese, and entry gardens. There are also other specialized sections like gardens meant for shade loving plants, hemlock trees, and plants from the Southwest.
The nationally acclaimed J. C. Raulston Arboretum is open daily, free of charge, to the public.
