The Mattye Reed African American Heritage Center is an educational facility in North Carolina A&T State University, in Greensboro, NC. It is one of the best noted historical resource sites for African American history and heritage in the country.
Founded in the late 1960s, the Mattye Reed African American Heritage Center is the home of a series of collections of African culture. They present a wide range of art works, crafts, and artifacts that tell of the black heritage and history. It was named after Mattye Reed, the site?s first curator and director. She also helped collect a great number of the pieces available on the site today by asking her friends and former colleagues to donate pieces to the university.
