Located inside the campus of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, the Nasher Museum of Art is the university?s art museum. It was opened in 2005 and is best noted for its total costs of $24 million.
The Nasher Museum of Art is named after Raymond Nasher, a Duke University alumnus who is also known for being an avid art collector. He was also the source of the initial collection in the museum. It is composed of around 65,000 square feet of space filled with various kinds of art works, ranging from classical to contemporary. Their 13,000 piece collection includes works from big names like Dario Landers, Cindy Sherman, Romary Bearden, Christian Boltanski, Kara Walker, Lorna Simpson, Andy Warhol, Olafur Eliasson, Fred Wilson, and Glen Ligon among many others.
