The NC Underwater Archaeology Center is a small museum in Kure Beach, North Carolina that is focused on the history that the depths of the sea can share. The site is a part of the NC Division of Archives and History, with the state?s rich and colorful seaside past making such a department necessary.
The NC Underwater Archaeology Center chronicles the maritime history through artifacts that date back to the prehistoric days, also known as the time when the Native Americans still lived freely. The site features North Carolina?s maritime heritage by digging the mud and sediments of the state?s waterways. It tells of the story of the Queen Anne?s Revenge shipwreck which was found in an area near the state?s coastline along with many other shipwrecks that tend to prove that the state is the ?Graveyard of the Atlantic?.
