Located in Astoria, Oregon is the old Captain George Flavel House and Carriage House, now better known as the Captain George Flavel House Museum. It is a historic house museum and a tourist attraction, mostly due to its association with Captain George Flavel.

Captain Flavel is best known for being one of the most influential figures in the city of Astoria in the 1800s. He was a bar pilot and a wealthy businessman. The Queen Anne mansion was in the family from its completion in 1886 until 1934 when the Flavel great-granddaughter gave it to the city to honor the family?s legacy.

The Captain George Flavel House Museum was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Aside from being a house museum, it is also known for being a location used in the filming of the cult favorite, The Goonies.
