Also known as the Pioneer Memorial Cemetery or the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery, the Eugene Pioneer Cemetery is one of the three oldest cemeteries in the city of Eugene, Oregon. Aside from that, it is also notable for being the largest with its 5000 burials and 16 acres worth of land.
Founded in 1872, the Eugene Pioneer Cemetery has been threatened to be converted into something else but none of the plans pushed through and all of the bills were shelved eventually. It was then listed to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
The Eugene Pioneer Cemetery also has a well known Grand Army of the Republic burial plot near the central parts of the site.
